Supporting SGF

Why Your Support of SGF is So Important...

Young people today have no shortage of temptations to “be cool” and stray from family values. Today’s adults who struggled through their formative years have never heard of some of the choices boys and girls face today.

Staying active in sports has always proven to be an excellent way of fostering positive mental and physical growth. Golf is one sport in particular that not only teaches discipline to improve as a player, but it also instills traits to improve as a person, such as courtesy, honesty, and respect for others. By simply staying involved in golf, the game itself acts as a strong mentor for today’s youth.

I am convinced that juniors are more eager than ever to be the next Tiger Woods or Karrie Webb. They serve as role models displaying the attributes that make the game so great. Because golf is a game you can play for a lifetime, these attributes can be carried throughout one’s life.

The greatest single need of the growing ranks of young golfers is Excellence in Coaching. SGF supports those adults in a position to provide a proper introduction to the game of golf. With the help of corporate sponsors, individual benefactors and other friends of golf, I am confident that SGF will become the premier provider of that excellence.

Think About This...

If every 0 - 9 handicap player were to quit the game, the golf industry would barely notice

If every 10 - 30 handicap player were to quit the game, the golf industry would go bankrupt.

A proper introduction to the game retains those juniors who might have otherwise quit and develops more recreational, life-long golfers (10 - 30 handicap). The chances also increase of developing more juniors into competitive players (0 – 9 handicap).

A proper introduction to the game retains those juniors who might have otherwise quit. On a national average over 45 boys and girls are showing up for golf team tryouts. If the coach can keep and assist ten or twelve, he is doing a great job. The other thirty players are those new golfers who become the 10 to 30 handicappers!! SGF coaches receive PGA and LPGA assistance with those who did not make the travel team.
