Walter Hagen was born on Dec. 21, 1892 in Rochester, N.Y. he was nicknamed as Haig by his fans and brethren and was an inspiration to golfers during his time. Hagen claimed the U.S. Open title twice in the year 1914 as well as 1919 and the British Open for a total of four times in the year 1922, 1924, 1928 and 1929.
