Sam Snead  
   
Sam Snead was born on May 27, 1912 in Hot Springs, Va. He was nicknamed as the Slammin' Sam as well as Slammer for his popular shots and passed away from the world in the year 2002 on the 23rd of May. He has enjoyed a total of 82 tour victories through out his career which spreads over decades. The player also won many major championships including the most eminent ones that are held by the golfing community.
   

These include the title of Masters in the years 1949, 1952 and 1954; British Open in the year 1946; PGA Championship: 1942, 1949 and 1951. According to a rough estimate the total number of tournaments won by Snead amount up to 160 professional tournaments. He received the life time achievement award called the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award before he passed away and was also admitted as a member in the World Golf Hall of Fame.

He has been a money lender in the PGA tour for a total of 3 times and has been the PGA Tour Vardon Trophy winner for a total of 4 times. He was also a member of 8 of the United States Ryder Cup teams. He has been a captain of 3 of the United States Ryder Cup teams and was acknowledged for many more things along with those mentioned above. Sam Snead was a neat player and believed in living a straight life and completely dedicating his efforts to the sport of golf throughout his stay in the world.
