The game of Golf is now competed in internationally and for the past century there have been many championships that have resulted in production of leading golfers like Tiger Woods who is a celebrity player and a successful sportsman.
The major tours include the PGA tour, the Asian tour, the European tour, PGA tour of Australasia, the Japan tour, the Sunshine tour and many more.
   

Golf has been a major sport for about 100 years now however the Championship Committee initiated the official world ranking in the year 1980. The system of ranking was developed from Mc Cormack’s World Golf Rankings, which was published in the World of Professional Golf Annual. The records of Golf have been ardently maintained and currently the leading layer on the table is Tiger Woods of the United States of America with total points of 19.50. On the second and third place are Phil Mickleson and Padraig Harrington of the United States of America and Ireland respectively. Phil has 9.68 points while Padraig has 6.37 points according to the calculations reviewed in the year 2008.

Jack Nicklaus who has a winning streak distributed over the year 1962 and 1986 has won the Masters championship 6 times, the U.S open 4 times, the PGA for a total of 5 times. He has thus won a major championship of golf for a total of 18 times during his 25-year career span. On number two is the current championship according to world rankings, Mr. Tiger Woods with a total of 4 Masters, 3 the Open, 4 PGA and 3 U.S Open titles calculating up to 14 victories within the 12 years that he has been associated professionally with golf.
