Golf Equipment

The equipment related to golf is as old as the game and it al started with stones and crooks hit in rabbit holes. The times have changed since then and now it comprises of the most sophisticated gear as well as fields for play.
Professional golf equipment manufacturers are recorded to have been working as early as the beginning of the 17th century both in Scotland as well as England.

These were the then skilled craftsmen who made bows and arrows as well as the gear for golf for the Lords of those days. Initially there were wooden clubs that were designed as such for more swing and then there were iron-faced clubs along with hand stitched leather balls. These balls were stuffed with feathers and were quite difficult to create. Later on there were better and faster replacements of the older versions. These balls could cover a distance of 150 yards in wet conditions and 180 yards when dry.

Then came the gutta-percha experiment, which introduced a material in the market that could be heated and made into a hard ball. This was an instant success and removed the feathery ball from focus completely. Then came the Haskell ball, which was invented by Dr. Coburn Haskell and was immediately adopted by the North Americans and later on by the rest of the world. Nowadays there are many multinational firms, which are related to the manufacture of golfing gear and are producing the most sophisticated equipment which has improved the stature of the game by magnanimous proportions.
